Joanna Whitehead

Physiotherapist, Clinical Pilates Instructor

Joanna graduated from Otago University in NZ in 2007 and has been consulting at Absolute Physiotherapy for over ten years. She has a keen interest in working with elite and recreational athletes from a variety of sporting backgrounds, particularly dancers and circus-related injuries.

Joanna is a hands-on physiotherapist using a variety of techniques including; massage, dry needling, muscle energy and myofascial release to achieve long-lasting results. She has a special interest in pelvic and hip-related pathologies and has an extensive history in teaching Pilates, utilising these principles to develop individually tailored rehabilitation programs.

Joanna has been associated with the National Institute of Circus Arts for the past ten years and has worked with some amazing performers and athletes; including Circus Oz, Spiegelworld Empire and Victorian Men’s Gymnastic HPC. Joanna has also worked as a para-equestrian classifier and enjoys the challenge and commitment of working within a health care team to deliver the best treatment approach possible for her patients.
